818 acres of Tierrasanta Open Space qualifies this urban park as one of the 150 largest in the United States.  Dedicated open space areas and landscaped medians are maintained by the Tierrasanta Maintenance Assessment District, which was established in 1972 and again approved by voters in 1997.

The mission of the Tierrasanta Community Council (TCC) is to promote and enhance the interests, general welfare, and quality of life of the community of Tierrasanta.

As the official, community elected, Planning Group for Tierrasanta under the City of San Diego Council Policy 600-24, the TCC will cooperatively work with the City throughout the planning process, assess the long range community goals and objectives, and make recommendations to various governmental agencies on land use matters.
